Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Sedation for Dental Hygienists

The Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Sedation course is designed to instruct students in the art and science of minimal inhalation sedation using Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen.

It encompasses the evaluation of the child and adult patient prior to administration, management of the patient during administration, and the management of medical emergencies.

The course is 5 weeks of didactic, online learning (15 hours) and one day (8 hours) of on-site clinical practice. Students are expected to be in the ULM Dental Hygiene Clinic during the final day for the clinical portion.

In order to register for this course, participants must provide a copy of their Dental Hygiene License and CPR card. Both should be sent to the Continuing Education and Professional Development department at ced@ulm.edu. Once received, participants will be contacted to complete registration.
